THE RYDAWELL CREW
Rydawell began its journey as a woodworking business in 2010.
While owner/ founder Ryan was on a rock climbing camping trip in 2008, he encountered his first experience of #vanlife long before it was a movement.
He then set out to design a perfect work and weekend camper vehicle and Rydavan 1.0 was born. This van build became internet famous with over 1 million views ,even catching the eye of the vehicle manufacturer themselves who flew up a crew to feature Ryan and the van for a commercial.
Since then, the focus has shifted to custom off-grid adventure vehicles. Every build by the Rydawell team is distinct, custom and one-of-a-kind.

FAQs
-
Because every van we build is completely custom and tailored to the owner's specific needs, the final price depends entirely on your layout, components, and vehicle size.
Partial or Minimalist Builds: Typically start around $50,000.
Fully Equipped Builds: Our average fully completed conversions—including custom cabinetry, a complete sleeping layout, windows, integrated plumbing, and robust solar/lithium electrical architectures—generally range from $75,000 to $125,000.
High-End/Complex Builds: Highly specialized or maximum-spec builds can range up to $200,000.
If you have a specific layout, sketches, or component lists in mind, please head over to our contact page and fill out our build survey. We also offer 1-hour design and consultation sessions for $150 (in person or over the phone) to help you map out your vehicle choice, sizing, and budget before turning a single screw.

We focus exclusively on the conversion side, meaning you bring us the vehicle and we build out your dream setup. Our process is collaborative and straightforward:
1. Consultation & Estimation: We start with an in-depth discussion about your layout preferences, off-grid power needs, and overall vision. Leveraging our extensive build experience, we’ll provide an initial ballpark cost estimate.
2. Flexible Contracting: Once we're aligned on the scope, we move to a formal agreement. We offer both fixed-price and Time & Materials (T&M) contracts. We typically recommend T&M for custom builds because it gives you the flexibility to make design adjustments on the fly and ensures you only pay for exactly what goes into your rig.
3. Build & Delivery: Once the design is locked in, you’ll drop your vehicle off at our shop in Seattle. We work with clients from all over the country and can easily help coordinate logistics if you’re out of state.
-
Because we treat every van as a bespoke, high-craftsmanship project, timelines vary depending on the complexity of the design.
Standard Custom Builds: Typically take 3 to 6 months (12 to 24 weeks) to fully execute from the day the van hits our shop floor.
Minimalist or Simpler Layouts: Can be completed in as little as 3 to 4 weeks (like our Star Wagon package).
Maximum-Spec/Complex Builds: Highly engineered, four-season rigs with advanced utility systems can take up to 7 months (like our Yonder build).
We pride ourselves on meticulous attention to detail, ensuring your mobile system is robust, safe, and built to last a lifetime.

Our calendar generally runs 2 to 6 months out for comprehensive, new van builds. We manage our upcoming queue via a reservation deposit, which ensures your vehicle gets dedicated shop time exactly when promised.
If you're looking for smaller modifications or system retrofits, we do our best to thread those in between our full-scale projects whenever possible. Drop us a line today to get a real-time update on our shop schedule!

We provide service for the 50+ vans we have built and stand by the quality of our work. However, please note that we generally do not have the capacity to diagnose or repair vans built by other companies. If you are in need of a major rebuild or overhaul, that is something we may be able to help with.
